Brownfield Family Glossary
The Brownfield family has numerous words that were created over time - either by a simple mistake by a kid who is learning how to talk, a combination of words into a portmanteau, or from an old saying from the parents’ childhood - there were many unique Brownfield words and phrases that made it into permanent vocabulary. Some examples are below.
Donethit - Are you done with it?
Mopening - I’m opening!
Jamakin - What are you making?
Djeet? - Did you eat
Isummame - Give some to me or I want some
Wrecked Off, Gone South, Gone Gunnysack (gone gunny) - Something that is no longer functional, spoiled, or broken.
Hongo B.E.D. - I don’t want to go to bed
Don’t Know Squat - Don’t know anything
Slide Door Up Down - The Ballard Bridge
The Roundy Round - The overpass that leads to the Ballard Bridge
Craminominator - A standalone audio processor my Dad had - one “craminominates” the sound
The Dubisary - any random item or device - Doohickey applies as well
Balt - Bald, as in “Dad, you’re balt”
Being Hayve - My brother was asked to behave, and answered “I AM being hayve!”
Yumberful - wonderful + yum, should be a real word already
Doot Doot - Any mouth blown instrument, originating from the Cantina band in Star Wars playing their ‘Doot doots’
