A Welcome Escape (2024)
1. Disruptor (4:08) - This was kind of a follow up to 'Mindset' from last year, a bit of an Afrobeat style simplified and fun to make and play. Repeating backing track with various instruments coming and going.
2. Swarmp (1:26) - This one was created finding some alternate instruments for Disruptor and I liked these on their own enough to be a separate little instrumental.
3. Your Big Brain (2:21) - Trying another singing variation, this one is kind of a punk-influenced little song. The drums were fun to do on this one.
4. Welcome To Paradise (4:46) - This one is a combination of the website zombo.com and a Monty Python bit. Fun vibe with some jazz chords and doing some horns around the groove. Liked doing the drums on this one too.
5. Take Drugs (4:47) - I wonder how this one comes across. It's supposed to be humorous and I am not taking myself too seriously but I did try to make it nice to listen to. Sort of pointing out that the do drugs guy is dumb and is not cool and the prescription drugs guy is suffering at the hands of their doctor. Drugs are bad, m'kay.
6. Escape From Delta Vulpes (5:41) - This one sounded spacey to me, so I ran with it. I originally sampled audio from old sci-fi radio shows then realized I probably shouldn't do that - then re-wrote some of the dialogue and recorded it myself. I think this has my best guitar solo in it.
7. Everyone is Dead (6:24) - Sort of tried to do a Tenacious D song: a heavy metal demonic song that starts on an acoustic guitar and builds to an epic story about some evil dude. Spent a lot of time on this and I do like it but not quite as much as I want.
8. Growing Fear, Spreading Darkness (4:14) - This one was sort of trying to be a Type O Negative song, with creepy blood sucking guy and sort of basic hard rock riffs. Another one I worked a long time on with actual sections and changes.
9. Vitamins & Batteries (5:01) - This one is a silly little track that I did one day while I was supposed to be finishing one of the above two songs nearing the end of the work. I literally pasted each section with three different sounding duplicates of the parts, then randomly removed a bunch of the repeated parts to create the changes. Then added the voices and whatnot. I think this track influenced my next project a lot.
